What is bone broth, and what’s the craze?
Bone broth is basically making soup. The key to bone broth that you have to simmer it for at least 18 hours to get the full benefits. You also need to add a little raw, organic, apple cider vinegar. This aids in drawing out the minerals from the bones, marrow and cartilage.
The longer you simmer the broth, the more it releases all the calcium, magnesium, glucosamine and chondroitin. These minerals are known to be beneficial in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Why take supplements?
Broth digests easier and is utilized by your body quicker.
The hydrophilic colloids (gelatin) that is produced is made up of the amino acids arginine and glycine, which aids in in digestion, allowing the body to utilize complete proteins more efficiently. The gelatin also promotes hair, skin and nail growth.
Did you know that your immune system resides mostly in your gut? Whether you know it or not, all of us have poor gut health; chon’s, colitis, leaky gut, etc. It’s from consuming birth control pills, steroids, processed foods, you name it. Bone broth aids in healing these conditions.
“Bone broth is all the craze right now, touting it as “the new green juice”.
There’s even a restaurant in New York’s East Village called Brodo (Italian for broth). They only sell bone broth. They have specialty ingredients for added health benefits, but it’s crazy, right? Why didn’t I think of this?

It’s pretty easy to make, you just have to let it cook a long time. I am experimenting today, making it in my Instant Pot pressure cooker. I’ll see how that turns out.
I usually make it in a 12-quart stock pot. I put it in BPA free containers, label it chicken broth, beef broth, turkey broth, etc. date it and throw it in the freezer. It’s best to drink at least one cup of it every day to get the most health benefits from it.
Since it takes so long to complete, I like to make big batches. If you’d like, once it’s done, you can even add additional veggies and let it simmer until the veggies are soft. That is, if you don’t like just drinking broth.
For my digestion routine, I start my day with warm water, apple cider vinegar and fresh lemon juice.
Then, I drink green juice during my workout.
Once I get to work, I heat up my bone broth and sip on that while I’m setting up.
Just like my workout, I like to get my good nutrition done first thing in the morning. It sets the tone for my whole day.
I have been buying local, grass fed, free range, no hormones etc. beef and chicken. It is more money, but I’ve been slowly trying to make the transition for my overall health.
You, however, do not need to, if you don’t want, it’s ok. Just start making this lovely stuff and drink it every day.
I have not done it in a crock pot, but I know people do make it that way.
Trust me on this one. Drink one cup a day, every day. It’s preventative medicine for so many ailments. Let me know if you make it. And keep me updated if you make it through the winter months without getting a cold.
P.S. IMPORTANT NOTE!
Don’t forget to put good intentions into this soup. Just like all of your food. Your energy and intentions literally get transferred into what you create. Place prayers, good intentions, healing, kind words into you preparation of this food. It makes a HUGE difference.
