So, at the restaurant they make a french bread apple stuffed french toast. I thought why not make it at home, but use our treat bread – potato rolls. We like to buy them maybe once a month as our treat. So I took the applesauce (that I shared last week) and stuffed hot dog rolls with it. It was delicious, but I have to admit, a bit too sweet for me. I am a salt girl. But Spiro loved them. If you want a treat meal and crave something sweet, give this a try. I know you’ll love them.
Homemade applesauce (or apple pie filling) you want it to be chunky
2 Martin’s potato hot dog rolls (or 2 thick pieces of french bread with a slice in the center for stuffing)
2 eggs well beaten
1 Tbsp. Earth Balance (or butter)
Heat a frying pan on medium high heat
While the pan is heating, stuff your bread/rolls with the applesauce mixture
Once heated, add 2 Tbsp. Earth Balance (or butter)
Dip the stuffed bread into the egg mixture
Cook one side then the other, until golden brown
Note: if your applesauce is cold, you want to heat it up before stuffing the bread
Enjoy and please leave me a comment if you give this a try, or have a similar recipe you’d like to share.
